

Dale was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II and retired from Brethren Publishing Company where he worked as a press operator. He was a member of Rowsburg Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Rowsburg Lions Club. Dale enjoyed following the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State University football team. He also enjoyed following his grandchildren's and great grandchildren's activities of racing, cheerleading, dance and gymnastics as well as his grandson's world travels.
He is survived by his two daughters, Linda (Ray) Kopp of Great Falls, Virginia and Sandra (David) Parsons of Ashland; his grandchildren, Tyler Patterson of Ashland, Ohio, Michelle (Jess) Patterson Timmons of Greenwood, South Carolina, Kristin (Ryan) Kopp Moran of Leesburg, Virginia, Justin Parsons, of Jersey City, New Jersey and Kevin (Kirsten) Kopp of Staunton, Virginia; his great grandchildren, Paige Patterson and Xander Patterson of Ashland, Brecklyn Timmons, Harper Timmons, and Maggie Timmons all of Greenwood, South Carolina and Warren Kopp of Staunton, Virginia; and his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dean (Doris) Welch and Esther Welch.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace (Welch) Gardner and his sisters, Beulah Gardner Noe (Tom), Viola Gardner Bower (Robert) and Janet Gardner Schuch (Ed).
Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Rowburg Lutheran Church conducted by Pastor Michael Koch with additional visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Rowsburg Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by the Ashland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
