
Dale Edward West, 81, of Lexington, Ohio died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, November 22, 2000 at MedCentral Mansfield. Mr. West was born August 12, 1919 in Pulaskiville, Ohio living in the Mansfield area all of his life. He retired from General Motors after 25 years. Mr. West was also a retired farmer. He was an active member of Mansfield Area R-C Society and the Electronic Flyers. He built and flew radio controlled model airplanes. He was very active in garden tractor pulling, Tri-County GTP, and the Craft Hobby. Mr. West was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Shelby, Ohio and UAW #549.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virla Rush West; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol & Richard Sheppard of Shelby, Betty & Paul Yetzer of Galion, and Barbara Griffeth of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry & Janet West and Kenneth & Jan West, all of Shelby; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Georgia Mitchell West; three brothers; and one sister.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday from 2-5:00 p.m. and one hour prior to funeral services to be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor June Fryman. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church of Shelby, Ohio.
