He was born April 5, 1955, in Mansfield to Elijah Herns and Johnnie Mae Atkins. Danny was known for his lively spirit and joyful personality—he was fun, funny, and always carried a smile. He loved shooting pool, fishing, and cooking, with beans and cornbread being his signature dish. Danny also enjoyed relaxing with a glass of vodka and spending time with family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Danyelle Bowles; sisters, Vivian Roberts, Margaret (Horace) Wiggins, and Deborah Boone (Calvin); brother, Earnest Atkins; brother-in-law, Junior Brown; grandson, Dominque Bowles; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Quache and Torrence Spencer, Trey Wiggins, Morgan Wiggins, Precious Black, Jerome Black, Jeremy Black, Sidney Black, and Rikiji Bowles, and great-niece, Kamozye Bowles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elijah Herns; mother, Johnnie Mae Fuller; stepfather, Rance Fuller; brother, Jerome Bowles; and niece, Jessica Black.
