
David A. Booth, 77, of Mansfield, died Saturday, September 17, 2005, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Born July 8, 1928, in Jackson, he was the son of John H. and Bessie Morgan Booth. He retired from the military and also from the Teamsters where he worked as a truck driver. He served in the U.S. military with the Navy from 1945 to 1947, Air Force from 1948 to 1954, and the Army from 1959 to 1971 serving during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Lisa Shoemaker of Shelby; grandchildren, Marguerite Hunt and Joseph West and their children, Austin, Alexander, and Abbigale Hunt and Joshua West, Elizabeth Booth and Thomas Rush and their children, Zachary Bays and Kyle Rush, Stephanie Booth and Aaron Gundrum, and their children, Trevor McGuire and Ariella Gundrum, Ashley McDaniel, Norman Shoemaker, Jr., Chase Shoemaker, Cassondra Kennard and Layne Kennard; special daughter-in-law, Vesta McDaniel and her husband, Jim; brother, John Booth of Jackson; special nephew, Richard Phillips; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, five brothers, one great-grandson, and one great-niece.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 22 at 1:30 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Military graveside services conducted by Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
