
David 'Brownie' Brown, Sr., 74, of Mansfield, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born November 26, 1932 in Mansfield, he was the son of Phillip and Eva Wilcox Brown. He attended Bellville schools and retired in 1998 from General Motors after 38 years of service. A lifelong fisherman, he loved his fishing place at Mifflin Dam and eating at Highway Restaurant. He was a wonderful storyteller and an all around good guy who enjoyed having fun with his friends and family. He often found humor in rooting for the opposite team his friends were cheering on. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Hornet.
Survivors include three sons, David Sandra Brown, Jr. of Butler, Phillip Brown of Mansfield, Clifford Brown of Lexington; three daughters, Pamela Barre, Brenda Joe Conkle, all of Mansfield, Vickie Lee Taylor of Shelby; former wife and friend, Beverly Brown; seventeen grandchildren, Shannon, Chuck, Ross, Christopher, Courtney, Casey, Autumn, Keeghan, Chad, Kami, Jordan, Dustin, Corey, Brittany, Sophia, Luke and Lindsey; a great-grandson, Braden; brother, James Dorothy Brown of Ashland; sister, Mary Paul Murrell of TN; two brothers-in-law, Conrad Schuster of Springfield, Allan Crawford, Sr. of Mansfield; his friends at Highway Restaurant; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Preceding him in death were his parents, grandson, Benjamin and three sisters, Eleanor Crawford, Phyllis Schuster and Evelyn Wycoff.
Friends may call Monday, May 21 from 5-7 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Memorial services will follow at 7:00 p.m. conducted by Dr. John D. Freeman.
