David Eugene Busler, 73, passed away on October 21, 2025, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease, which he battled since his fifties. He was born on September 18, 1952, in Mansfield, Ohio, son of Eugene V. and Margaret C. Busler.
A graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, David was valedictorian of the Class of 1970. He went on to earn degrees from George Washington University and the University of Virginia School of Law. Returning to his hometown, David practiced law in Mansfield and for a time served his community as a member of the Mansfield City Council.
David was a man of deep intellect and quiet passions. A lifelong Cleveland Browns and Guardians (formerly Indians) fan, he never gave up on his teams. He was an avid reader, a devoted student of history, and an enthusiastic researcher of family genealogy. Sundays found him working the New York Times crossword puzzle—in ink—until Parkinson’s Disease gradually limited his physical abilities.
David cherished his friendships and community. One of his favorite places was Relax, It’s Just Coffee in downtown Mansfield, where he regularly gathered with friends for conversation and connection. Since February 2022, he had been a resident of Winchester Terrace Nursing Center, where his caregivers became extended family and brought comfort during his final years.
David is survived by his only sibling, brother Roger Busler, and sister-in-law Elynor (Gates) Busler; nephew Forrest Busler, MD and his wife Valerie (McMurray) Busler, MD; niece Mary Margaret Bracey and her husband Justin Bracey and six cherished grandnieces and grandnephews, all of Tennessee.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be a private burial. Plans for a memorial gathering to celebrate David’s life will be announced at a later date.
Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services by Wappner is honored to serve the Busler family.
