

David was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High, and retired from the United States Postal Service, Mansfield office, after 30 years as a mechanic. After retirement, he was employed at Graham's AutoMall as a runner. He was a veteran of the United States Army, during World War II as part of the 199th Port Battalion. David was a past commander of the American Legion Post 16, a member of the VFW, 40 et 8, and Sons of Herman. He had a great love for mushroom hunting, gardening, and caning chairs.
David leaves behind his daughter, Sharon (Robert) Mahan; son, Les (Maureen) Carver; grandchildren, Charissa (Tony) Vance, Jeffrey Merle, Shawn (Jennifer) Carver, and Sara (Jay) Tonelli; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and his siblings, Jeannette Stitt, Alvin Carver, Bob (Diz) Carver, and Wanda Bridges. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Donna Jean Carver.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 12:00-2:00 pm at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery with the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail to perform military honors.
