

David graduated from Madison High School in 1952, and graduated from Case Institute of Technology (now Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio) with a BS in Chemical Engineering and an MS in Nuclear Engineering. David was employed by Hercules Incorporated at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory in Rocket Center, West Virginia for 35 years and also for Hercules, Alliant Techsystems and the department of the Navy for another 15 years. While living in Cumberland, MD, he was active in the community and Church. He was a Boy Scout Explorer Post leader. David was a community counsel officer, a PTA officer and ruling elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Cumberland, MD. After returning to Mansfield in 2012, David joined and became an active member of Diamond Hills Baptist Church, where he served as an usher, chairman of the trustees, and an ordained deacon.
David is survived by his wife, Rosemary Lewis; daughter, Sherry (Tom) Stallings; son, Matthew (Sherri) McBride; four grandchildren; brother, Lynn (Janie) McBride; sisters-in-law, Sue (Mike) Lorey, Jane Elton, Marilyn "Betty" (Richard) Masheter; and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Patricia (Schell) McBride; sister, Marge L. McBride; and brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jan McBride.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. A funeral Service officiated by his pastor, Rev. Christopher Thomas, will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11:00 am at Diamond Hills Baptist Church. Additional visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Memorial Contributions may be made to Diamond Hills Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Richland Pregnancy Services, or a charity of choice.
