David Phelps

David E. Phelps, 55, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, March 31, 2005, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born February 15, 1950, in Mansfield, he was the son of Roy D. and Helen J. Carman Phelps. David was employed at O.M.R. and was a member of Ashland Cloud Chasers. He enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes, and building and racing drag cars.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Betty Wilcox Phelps whom he married September 15, 1973; mother, Helen Phelps of Canfield; two sisters, Christy Russell Green of Youngstown and Susan Phelps of Newton Falls; three nieces, Jennifer Noel, Samantha Green, Katy Ingledue; a nephew, Nick Ingledue; and a great-nephew, Brandon Noel. His father preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends and family at their home, Sunday, April 3 from 2-6 p.m. Memorial services will be held Monday, April 4 at 1:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street home of Wappner Funeral Directors, conducted by Rev. Faith Proietti. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Association.
