
Dean Pittenger, 75, of Mansfield died early Monday morning, March 4, 2002, at his home after a six-month illness. He was born December 29, 1926 in Mansfield to Merle R. and Lottie Walters Pittenger. Dean was an electrical engineer retiring from Westinghouse Electric. He was a life-long member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where he was a past council member. Dean graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1945 and also Cleveland State University with a bachelor degree in electrical engineering. He volunteered at the Renaissance Theatre and Habitat for Humanity. He served his country during WWII in the AACS of the Army Air Corp from 1945-1947.
His wife, Rosalind Ost Pittenger whom he married in 1954; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Tim LaFayette of Springfield, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Khush Pittenger of Ashland, Ohio; and grandson, Aaron Pittenger all survive him. His parents, Merle and Lottie Pittenger, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday, March 5, 2002 from 3-5 p.m. Additional calling hours will be observed one hour prior to funeral services to be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Pastor Ted Grotjohn. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
