Dean Robertson

Dean W. 'Robbie' Robertson, 70, of Mansfield died Saturday morning, June 22, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. He was born December 6, 1931 in Mansfield to the late Major and Ruth Stover Robertson. He retired after 36 years as a mail carrier with the US Postal Service. Dean attended St. Peter's Catholic Church and was a charter member of the Knight of Columbus # 4448, National Association of Letter Carriers #118. He was a 1949 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. He was an avid golfer, bowler and loved sports of all kinds. Dean served with the US Army in Panama and achieved the rank of Sergeant during his service.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann Hetler Robertson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale James and Judy Robertson of Lake Orion, Michigan and Joseph Dean and Nancy Robertson of Mansfield; grandchildren, Ann and Rob White and Andy Robertson; three great-granddaughters, Olivia, Jacklyn and Emily; five brothers and their spouses, Paul and Clara Robertson of Shelby, Bob and Wanda Robertson of Olivesburg, Jack and Dorothy Robertson of Mansfield, Ted and Janet Robertson of Shiloh, and Emmett Robertson of Mansfield; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Leah Jane Kirk of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Nira Scoles of Westerville, Ohio, and Norma and Walt Matthews of Arizona; a number of nieces and nephews; and four sisters-in-law, Helen Gimbel, Phyllis and Joe Hoff, Betty Lou Miller, and Mary Hetler. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Richard and James, and sisters, Martha Baer and Margaret Mayer.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Monday, June 24 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and vigil prayers services will be observed during evening calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Father Herb Weber and Monsignor Edward Dunn. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monsignor Dunn Foundation.
