
Denzil P. Bandy, 72, of Mansfield died Sunday morning, May 18, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield after a brief illness. Mr. Bandy was born November 5, 1930 in Bandy, Virginia to Newt & Maude Creed Bandy and has lived in Mansfield the past 50 years. He was retired from General Motors after 31 years. He was a member of UAW Local #549, Moose Lodge #341 and Sons of Herman #14. He was a founding member of the Ohio Country Western Music Association, an officer of #159 Musicians Union and founder of the 'Denzil Bandy & the Country Rock' band. Denzil was a gifted musician, especially with string instruments, who enjoyed helping others with their musical interests. He also loved golf, fishing and camping but most of all spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Darlious Bandy of Mansfield; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ernie Bandy, Jeff & Brenda Bandy, Jerry & Cory Bandy and Rick Bandy, all of Mansfield; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Nicki & Eric Meister, Rob & Michelle Bandy, Angie & Jack Swartz, Jeremy Bandy, Allie Bandy, Melody Bandy, Aaron Bandy and Rachelle Bandy; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hubert & Margaret Bandy and Arvis & Pauline Bandy, all of Bandy, Virginia; two sisters, Eliza Sparks and Uva Sparks, both of Bandy, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Bandy; and five brothers.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Dennis Allison and Rev. Glenn Phillips. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
