Diane was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Allen Dan; her parents, Joan (Till) and Cornelius Studer; and her husband of 44 years, Richard.
Diane leaves behind a large family (and extended family): her son Chad, his wife Athena, and their children Nicholas, Aiden, and Kesley Crider; her daughter, Jenifer, her husband “Big Nick” Nicholas, and their children Cordelia, Maeve, and Roscoe Baker; her sister Elaine, and husband Ernie, and children Ernie, Mark, and Emma (Hopkins) Surber; her brother Ken, his wife Rhonda, and daughter Shannon (Foote); two sisters-in-law, Shirley, and her husband Jesse Hoffman and Patricia Strickler; as well as plenty of cousins, and those who called her Mom, Momma Crider, Grandma, Grandma Diane, Sis, and more. Diane believed firmly that it didn't matter how you came to be her family, it only mattered that you were family.
Diane leaves behind a legacy defined by her love of music. Often she sang in her church choir, along with occasionally playing the piano during worship. She instilled this love into her children and many of her grandchildren. She possessed an inner strength that seemed inexhaustible to those who have witnessed her life. Diane loved to talk to anyone, which made her the perfect telephone operator.
Diane's passion was helping others. Throughout her life, she worked as a foster parent, phone counselor, volunteer at the Richland County Domestic Violence Shelter, and later in life, opened her home to young people from her church that needed a place to stay.
Diane's deep faith in God, gave her the strength to face the hardest times in her life with a belief that God would see her through.
The only regret that her family has, is that Diane didn't make it to see the wild beauty of Alaska, a trip that she had planned to take as a present to herself, after retirement later this year.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2019, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd.
