Dick Riggs

Dick E. Riggs, 74, of Mansfield died Monday evening January 3, 2000 at MedCentral Mansfield following an extended illness.  Mr. Riggs was born October 7, 1925 in Newport, Ohio to James and Rosa Riggs.  Mr. Riggs was a member of the Diamond Hills Baptist Church, Frank H. Marquis Lodge #690 F & AM, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Richland County Scottish Rite Association, and Baku Gratto.  He retired from Mansfield Tire & Rubber & worked for the Bellville Electric.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Bernice Clark Riggs; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald E. and Leslie W. Riggs of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Larry and Cindy Polk of Shelby, OH; one daughter, Rosemary L. Sterling of Mt. Gilead, OH; and seven grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rosa Metheny Riggs; and two brothers, Francis and James Riggs.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday January 6, 2000 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Masonic services held at 8:30 p.m.  Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday January 7, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Christopher Thomas. Graveside services will be held Saturday January 8, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at Newport Cemetery in Newport, OH.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Diamond Hills Baptist Church.
