Dolores Joe Ann Lloyd, 80, of Mansfield, died Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Good Shepherd Home in Ashland following an extended illness. Dolores was born on April 14, 1927, in Cleveland, to Dallas L. and Irene M. Miller Lloyd, and had resided in the Mansfield area for most of her life. A faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dolores had been the Choir Director, and directed the many Christmas plays at church. She also was integral with organizing and running the Latch-Key Program at the church. Her musical background in the Frauen Choir, and the Mansfield Symphony Chorus gave her a very strong ability as a music coordinator through church. After graduating from Strongsville High School in 1945, Dolores journeyed off to Ashland University, where she achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1951. A pioneer in her own right, she then decided to go to Bowling Green State University, where she received her teaching degree in 1961, and then went on to achieve her Masters and Specialists Degree in Reading in 1971. Dolores was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association. She worked for Madison schools for over 24 years as a teacher and reading consultant. Some also may remember Dolores when she owned and operated Lloyds Christmas House.
