
Donald J. Adkins, 47, died Saturday July 30, 2005, at his home following a brief illness. Born October 4, 1958, in Camden-on-Gauley, West Virginia, he was the son of Charles Stanley Adkins and Betty Lee Mahana Dillon. He was employed as a welder at Columbus Steel Castings. Donald was a member of North American Fishing Club and loved fishing and hunting. He was very family oriented-always present for his family and their needs. He loved gospel and country music, especially Elvis Presley.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Susan Adkins of Mansfield; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Jill Adkins of Mansfield; daughter, Chastity Wamsley of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Faith and Joy Adkins, all of Mansfield, Cody Rayburn of Shelby, Angel and Keeley Wamsley of Mansfield; a brother, Alvy 'Dick' Adkins of Bellevue; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Emily and Virgil Chapman of Bellevue and Evelyn 'Darlene' Berry of Mansfield; step brother, Ronnie Dillon of Mt. Gilead; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Jeffrey, Jim, Oscar and Charles Jr. Adkins.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Tuesday, August 2 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Don Stallard. Memorial contributions may be made in care of Chad and Chastity at the funeral home.
