
Donald B. Beal, 84, of Mansfield died late Monday evening, May 6, 2002 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. He is now with his Lord and Savior and out of pain. Mr. Beal was born September 1, 1917 in Cambridge, Ohio to William B. and Ethel G. Smith Beal. Donald attended Cambridge High School and was a veteran of World War II serving his country in the Air Force. He worked 14 years with the B & O Railroad as chief clerk, leaving to work at General Motors Brook Park plant, transferring to Mansfield Fisher Body retiring after 24 years of service due to cancer. Don was a chartered member of the UAW Local 549, member of the American Legion Post 16 and Moose Lodge #341, as well as the A.A.R.P. He was a member of the Main Street Methodist Church and helped serve lunch to the needy until poor health prevented him from doing so. Don touched many hearts in his lifetime and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ruth L. Beal; five daughters and their spouses, Sherry L. & Larry Ramsey of Mansfield, Tamara Lichtle of Lima, Ohio; Patricia Dorner of Mesa, Arizona, Joyce & Frank Indeperio of Oklahoma and Linda & Art Broadnax of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Phillip and Larry Beal both of Columbus; very special friend and caregiver, Gary Scott of Mansfield; his special companion, his basset hound, Corky; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold & Betty Beal of Cambridge, Ohio and Robert & Mildred Beal of Columbus; twenty grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, three sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, May 9 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Friday at 10:30 conducted by Rev. David A. Gilbert and Rev. Allen E. Rose. Military graveside services will follow in Bellville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Needy Fund at Main Street Methodist Church.
