

Donald G. Carney, 78, of Lexington, passed away Monday afternoon, April 4, 2016, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born October 24, 1937, in New Lexington, Ohio, to the late John W. and Audrey L. (Strawn) Carney.
Don was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and Army National Guard. He worked at General Motors where he worked as a press operator. He loved to draw, especially abstract figures. He also enjoyed listening to music, reading and watching television shows featuring a Western theme. A devoted Christian, he enjoyed selecting verses from the Bible and writing them down to have at hand. Don was very proud of his family and adored his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna (Ken) Deaton of Mansfield; two grandchildren, Jeff Barker of Mansfield and Jen (Terry) Walton of Ontario; four great-grandchildren, Carter, Colton, Camden and Olivia; a brother, Dave Carney; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clayton and Michael Carney, and sister, Virginia.
The family is deeply grateful for the care given to Don by OhioHealth Mansfield ICU and Emergency Room physicians and nurses. They also wish to express their thanks to the Mansfield Fire Department for all their assistance.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 11, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Mansfield First Friends Church, 571 Logan Road. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
