

Doris was born in Logan County, West Virginia to Gallie and Josie Midkiff on June 23, 1930. Doris had five older sisters, five younger sisters and two brothers. She married Ernest Arnold June 2, 1950. He preceded her in death November 18, 1980. She is survived by daughter, Drema (Ron) Meffley of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; son, David (Charlene) Arnold of Mansfield, Ohio. Grandchildren Dr. Ryan (Nikki) Meffley of Homerville, Ohio, Heather (David) Miller of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and Erin (Bryan) McCart of Elburn, Illinois. Great-grandchildren Riley Meffley, Owen Miller, Eleanor Miller and Aidan McCart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gallie and Josie Midkiff, sisters Arizona Midkiff, Missouri Dillo, Ida Hedge, Julie Ellis, Ada Lee Vance, and brother Herman Midkiff and infant brother Tallmadge Midkiff. Doris is survived by sisters Alice Duncan of Johnson City, Tennessee, Nellie (Bennie) Ellis of Daytona Beach, Florida, Janet Midkiff of Orlando, Florida, Samantha Zunz of Tampa, Florida and T.J. Miller of Scottsdale, Arizona. Doris was preceded in death by mother-in-law and father-in-law Effie and Fred Arnold of Pomeroy, Ohio and Effie's second husband Burdell Black of Rutland, Ohio, She also leaves sisters and brothers -in- law Stacie and Marcia Arnold of Minersville, Ohio, Donna and the late Lindy Arnold of Mason, West Virginia, Patty and the late Dale Arnold of Albany, Ohio, Joe and the late Ruby Jones of Mason, West Virginia, the late Jim and Alice Bowling of Jackson, Ohio, the late Ervin Arnold of Pine Creek, West Virginia killed in the line of duty in the Korean War. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and dear friends Bonnie and Teresa Dailey of Mansfield, Ohio, who made Mom feel a part of their family.
Doris was a member of Wyandotte Baptist Church which later became Cornerstone for over 35 years. She taught Sunday School and was a part of the Nursing Home Visitation Ministry. She was always willing to help at church wherever needed. She adored her grandchildren Ryan, Heather and Erin. Her passions were walking and staying physically fit, music, gardening and shopping.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 2- 4 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S Lexington Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2016 at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Brian Phillips. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., on Monday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held for immediate family only.
