Dorothy M. Thompson Rachel, 89, of Mansfield, died Friday, December 31, 2010 at Mifflin Care Center. Born April 5, 1921 in The Plains, she was the daughter of Frank and Blanche Snyder Thompson. She was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church and a former member of the Shelby Country Club. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper at Westinghouse. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, and working in the church.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Virginia Thompson of Mansfield, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Rachel, and five brothers, Charles, Earl, Melvin, Lawrence, and Ernest.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Dennis Nezrick. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville at 2:30 p.m.
