Dorothy Rhodes

Dorothy Mae Rhodes, 77, passed away unexpectedly June 14, 2011 at her home. Born August 16, 1933, she was the daughter of Oscar W. and Margaret J. Hoover Perry. Dorothy possessed a giving spirit and volunteered her time for the Red Cross, R.S.V.P. and Richland County Fairhaven Auxiliary, Renaissance Theater and Ontario schools with the summer recreation programs. She was a member of Ontario United Methodist Church and Kingwood Center. Along with her friend, Tom Mitchell, she was a member of the Goldwing Club GWRRA. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed crafts, crocheting, traveling and reading.

She is survived by four children, Jane Ed Ank of Ontario, Beth Miller of Flint, MI, Cindi Davis of Jacksonville, FL and Roger H. Patti Rhodes of Ontario; grandchildren, Jacob Beck of Tempe, AZ, Jason Beck of Strongsville, OH, Andy Miller of Sarasota, FL, Torrie Hall of Jacksonville, FL, Kelli Harrover of Jacksonville, FL and Tracy Miller of Sarasota, FL; step grandchildren, Todd Roxanne Ank of New Bern, NC, Chad Andrea Ank of Southington, OH, Greg Holly Ank of Kapolei, HI, Brennan Aldous of Kent, OH, Brooke Aldous of Kent, OH and Brant Aldous of Gastonia, NC; great-grandchildren, Gavin Miller of Sarasota, FL and Ella Hall of Jacksonville, FL; step great-grandchildren, Christian, Michael and Samuel Ank of New Bern, NC, Bree, Justin and Gregory Ank of Kapolei, HI, and Cammie Ank of Southington, OH; brother, Dale Norma Perry of Ontario; sister, Alice Bowers of Portage, MI; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Thomas Mitchell, Mick, Vanessa, Morley and Erika Mitchell and Laura Fuhrer. She was preceded in death on July 30, 1981 by her husband, Howard O. Rhodes, whom she married June 18, 1949; parents; and two brothers, Donald and Carl Perry.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross, 39 Park St. North #100, Mansfield, OH 44902.
