
Dr. Joseph H. Vivian, 71, of Mansfield, died Tuesday morning, March 18, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following an extended illness. Dr. Vivian was born April 27, 1931 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio residing in the Mansfield area most of his life. Dr. Vivian had his own practice in Dentistry for over 40 years. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He was a member of Mansfield Dental Society, Past Exhalted Ruler of B.P.O.E. in Mansfield, a member of Phi Kappa Si and Ohio State Dental Society, former Commodore of Mansfield Sailing Club, and a member of A.O.P.A. Dr. Vivian was an avid golfer, pilot, sailor and photographer. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as Lieutenant Commander.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Carlyn D. Diehl Vivian of Mansfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa V. and Keith A. Coleman of Mansfield; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dr. Stephan J. Vivian of Toledo, Ohio; and David R. and Lori Vivian of Cleveland, Ohio; two grandchildren, David R. Vivian II and Krystal R. Vivian both of Cleveland; one sister, Patricia Cornelius of Bisbee, Arizona; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William R. and Camilla Vivian; and one brother, Robert Vivian.
Private family services will be held. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors are assisting the family with funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in care of The American Heart Association, or The James Cancer Hospital of The Ohio State University.
