
Edward Wilson Furby, age 76, of Mansfield, died Monday evening, March 15, 2004, at SCCI Hospital. He was born July 31, 1927, in Sutton, West Virginia, to Hoy and Iva Wilson Furby. He was formerly employed as a die setter at Dominion Electric and Mohawk Industries. Edward served during WWII with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Selma Lunsford Furby; a son, Jeffrey Collins of El Paso, Texas; stepchildren, David and Kimberly Jordan of Mansfield, Randall and Carolyn Mullins of Phoenix, Arizona, Eric and Sandra Hellman, Jackie Bardine, all of Mansfield, and William Mullins of Columbus; twelve grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, whom he helped raise, Jenelle Pierce, Michelle Keaton and Joseph Smith; three sisters, Pearline Linger of Mansfield, Janice Ocheltree of Bellville, and Lenore Hutchinson of West Virginia; a brother, Rodney and Velma Furby of Fredericktown; and a special niece, Mary Amstutz of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Denver Furby and Paul Allen Furby, Jr. and sisters, Virginia Cain and Jean Helmick.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, conducted by Rev. Mark Meyer. Friends may call at the funeral home one-hour prior to the service. Military graveside services will follow at Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
