

Edwin A. Studer, 84, of Mansfield, was one of the most generous, kind-hearted men God Chose to put on this Earth! Saturday, March 31, 2012, God called him home and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Edwin was born September 9, 1927 in New Washington, Ohio to the late Albert and Dora Studer. Edwin served with the U.S. Merchant Marines, U.S. Army National Guard, and as a Madison Township Trustee. He was employed with the Pennsylvania Rail Road and retired in 1990 from Empire-Detroit Steel.
Edwin was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where he sang with the St. Peter’s Choir for 40+ years. Edwin’s love for music carried over to playing the trumpet, organ, and singing with the Fun Center Chordsman. Beyond music, Edwin enjoyed winters in Florida, oil painting, carpentry/wood-working, flying airplanes, relaxing on the porch, and spending time with loved ones and friends!
Edwin, a man of strong family values, is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carolyn (Poffenbaugh) Studer; three daughters, Renee (David) Hicks of Mansfield, Cindy Studer (Rainy Clow) of Toledo, and Jeannine (Ted) Zimmerman of Mt. Gilead; four grandchildren, Craig Hicks, Kelly Hicks Taylor, and Sienna and Kara Zimmerman; three great grandchildren, Alexandra Heichel, Adriana Hicks, and Evan Goob; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends! Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Studer of Toledo and Jarlath Studer of Mansfield.
Friends may call Tuesday, April 3, 2012, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario. Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran’s Burial Squad will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Msgnr Dunn Scholarship Foundation.
