

He graduated in 1962 as a member of the last class of Wharton High School. Edwin was a truck driver for 29 years and retired as a member of Local #40. He enjoyed his retirement by moving to Florida where he could pursue his joy of fishing and golfing year round. He enjoyed traveling, took many cruises and one special trip to Israel.
Edwin was a loving and proud father and grandfather and devoted husband to his wife. He was a longtime member of Ridgeway First Church of God where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher for many years. He avidly studied his Bible and loved to sing praise songs, keeping his faith strong through all of his trials. Edwin was an all-around Mr. Fix It who could repair anything.
Edwin is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Patricia Patterson Walter; two children, Kevin (Jenny) Walter and Debbie (Steve) Heydinger; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn Walter, Tyler Walter, Kayla (Jon) Breeden, Kyle (Samantha) Heydinger, Kaia Heydinger, Kami Heydinger, and Matthew Heydinger; one great-grandchild, Karsyn Heydinger; six siblings, Robert (Elaine) Walter, RuthAnn (Paul) Searfoss, Wayne (Deb) Walter, Barbara Miller, Jim (Terry) Walter and Anita (Mike) Rickle; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Walter; and brother, Richard Walter.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Pastor John Dodds will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice.
