
Edwin W. Ward, 91, of Butler, died early Wednesday morning, January 17, 2007, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Born March 27, 1915, in Butler, he was the son of the late Frank and Ruth Hoover Ward. A graduate of Butler High School in 1934, he retired from Mansfield Tire and Rubber Co. Edwin had been a member of Bellville American Legion Post #535, Butler Historical Society and Mansfield Tire 25 year Club. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army.He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Donald Ranshaw of Butler; brother-in-law, Donald Utt of Mansfield; two sisters-in-law, Marge Ward of Butler and Vernadeen Crouse of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faunda Spayde Ward, parents, sisters, Wayva Thompson and Bonnie Utt, and brother, Wendel Ward. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with Rev. Kenneth Kinley officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Military graveside services conducted by Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will follow in Bunker Hill Cemetery.
