
Elizabeth Becky Walton, 85, died Friday, March 14, 2008, at Galion Community Hospital. She went to be at peace with her Lord. Her selfless dedication to serving others was a witness to her faith and will be remembered as well as missed. She was born to James and Allie Ione Watts Gant on June 15, 1922, in rural Hancock County, near New Stark, OH. She graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1940 and from The Ohio State University School of Nursing in 1944. She married James O. Walton, her high school sweetheart, on December 16, 1945. Becky and Jim resided in Reed City, MI where Jim worked for Marathon Oil and where their children were born. They later moved to Marshall, IL, Findlay, OH and Trenton, MI. After Jim's work took them to London, England and Dublin, Ireland, they retired home to Mansfield in 1979. Following Becky's stroke in June 2007 and subsequent rehabilitation, they moved to Magnolia Terrace in Galion. Throughout her professional career as an R.N., Becky worked in doctors' offices, hospitals, and other medical settings, including volunteering on the cancer ward at Middlesex Hospital in London.
She leaves behind her husband, James; daughter, Linda of Portland, OR; son, Stephen and daughter-in-law, Jan of Midland, MI; granddaughters, Anna, Laura, and Miranda; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Carol Kasper Walton of Canton, OH; nieces, Sandy Freas and Pat McWilliam; nephew, Lary Faris; and many, many loving friends.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 p.m. on her favorite Sunday, Palm Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2007, at Main Street United Methodist Church. Private burial will follow.
