Elsie Brooks

Elsie 'Grandma' Brooks, 77, of 262 Louis St. died Monday evening, February 9, 2004, at Woodlawn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 13, 1926, in Arkansas to John and Mary Ann Parker Harris. Elsie attended Community Baptist Bible Church. She loved gardening, feeding others and taking care of her grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Catherine and Greg Jefferson, Maria and Johnny Moore and Patricia Ann Brooks, all of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Marie Chris Moore of Arkansas, Fawntiea Danny Chandler of Columbus, Talib Cross, Aisha Brooks, Lakeisha Brooks, Monte' Brooks, and Montrell Caldwell, all of Mansfield; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Owens of Mansfield; and a host of nieces, nephews and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard A. Brooks, and three sisters.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, February 12 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Randall Collins. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. The family will receive guests at 441 Woodridge Drive.
