
Emmett Bond, Jr., 58, of Mansfield, died early Wednesday morning, April 5, 2006, at Grant Hospital, Columbus, following an extended illness. Born March 12, 1948, in Mansfield, he was the son of Emmett Sr. and Stella Waddell Bond. Emmett graduated from Plymouth High School in 1966 and Eureka College of Illinois. A lifelong area resident, he retired as the owner of Bond Racing Stables where he was both a trainer and breeder. He was a member of the Jockey Club, APHA, AQHA, and enjoyed showing, judging and racing horses.
He is survived by three daughters, Amy Michael Minock of Shiloh, Kirsten Bond of Jacksonville, Fla., and Tracey Tolbert of Dekalb, Ill.; eight grandchildren; parents, Emmett and Stella Bond; fiancée, Rebecca Flegal of Mansfield; sister, Patti Harold Allen Luckie of Shelby; foster brother, Billy Swisher of Shelby; nephew, Stephen 'Greg' Luckie of Columbus; and a host of friends and relatives.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 8, at 3:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, officiated by Elder Larry Keinath. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 1-3 p.m. Family and friends will be received after the service at Ocie Hill Neighborhood Center, 445 Bowman St., Mansfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Wappner Funeral Directors.
