Eugene Funston, Jr.

Eugene D. Funston, Jr., died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born January 11, 1935, the son of Eugene Sr. and Iona Davis Funston. He worked many years from Westinghouse Corp. where he was employed in the tool and die department, and then worked at Springfield Tool and Die and as a security guard at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. He was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose, a 4-H and Boy Scout leader and enjoyed racing motorcycles.

He is survived by three daughters, Tammy Thoman of Wooster, Mary Funston of Galion and Becky Funston of Lexington; two sons, Scott Cathy Funston of Bathe, Maine and Marty Funston of Lexington; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his best friend and companion, Donna Grassick; and two sisters, Barbara Cieslak of California and Melinda Dave Kunkle of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held Friday, April 8 at 2:30 p.m. at Mansfield Memorial Park. The Ontario home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
