After graduation from Carrolton High School in 1950, Evelyn worked for Cavan Distributing. After marrying Eugene in 1953, they moved to Texarkana, TX and she worked for Swearingen Distributing.
In 1964, Evelyn moved to Mansfield, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Mifflin Elementary School and was actively involved in her community. Evelyn served as President of the Mifflin Township Fire Department Auxiliary, President of Post 16 American Legion Auxiliary, and was a member of the Past Presidents Parley.
Evelyn enjoyed visiting zoos, attending craft shows and farmers’ markets, and gathering with family for cookouts. She often shared fond memories of growing up on the family farm in Harlem Springs, Ohio.
She is survived by her two sons, Scott Goodson of Perrysville, Ohio and Brian Goodson of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Goodson; son Steven Goodson; and brothers, Adrian Johnson and Norman Johnson.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Wednesday September 16, 2026, from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, OH 44902. The funeral will follow at 12:00PM. Evelyn will be buried at Mansfield Memorial Park Cemetery.
