
Florence Lucille Shoemaker, 106, formerly of Ashland, died September 27, 2008 in Riverside, CA. Born April 17, 1902 in Canton, she was the daughter of William and Cora Swinehart Swinehart. She retired from A.L. Garber Co. after 24 years where she worked as a book binder. She was a member of the Ashland Worship Center. She was very dedicated to her church and a strong believer in prayer. Florence enjoyed working word puzzles, crocheting, and playing cards.
She is survived by two daughters, Leila Westwood of Riverside, CA, and LaVonne Cutlip of Ashland; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two step great-great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Shoemaker.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 7, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ashland Worship Center, 1420 Cottage St, Ashland, conducted by Pastor Paul Tracy, Rev. Don Graber, and Rev. Ted Mason. Burial will follow at Red Haw Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 1461 E. Cooley Dr, Suite 220, Colton, CA 92324, Ashland Worship Center, or a charity of the donor's choice.
