
Florence 'Peggy' Alice Dunmire Volz, 97, formerly of Mansfield, died Saturday April 23, 2005 in Lexington, South Carolina after an extended illness. Born June 25, 1907 in Butler, she was the daughter of Earl and Opal Oswalt Dunmire. She lived in Lexington, South Carolina for the past 14 years. Mrs. Volz graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1925, and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church for the past 68 years. She was a dedicated homemaker and avid crocheter, having made dozens of afghans over the years.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, LaNette Hermes of Lexington, South Carolina, Margie and Jim Shull of Mansfield, Nancy Shumaker of Morrison, Colorado, and Ellie Ryan and her husband, David, of Lexington, South Carolina; ten grandchildren and their wives, Jeff and Shannan Shull, and Lee and Kelly Shull, all of Mansfield, Julie Heckman of South Carolina, Lynn Wells and Kent Hermes of Florida, Rebekah Main, Phil Ryan, and Heather Ryan, all of California, and Stefanie Scialdone and Karen Shumaker, both of Colorado; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank P. Volz in 1984; her parents; and sister, Ethel Foster.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday April 27, 2005 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may also call one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Douglas Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
