
Forrest Martin, 64, of Shelby, died Saturday morning, June 14, 2003 at his home after an extended illness. He was born March 17, 1939 in Kentucky to Rebel and Lucy Sherman Martin and was an area resident most of his life. Until his retirement, Forrest had been employed for 20 years with General Motors. He was a member of Amvets Post #1979 in Galion, American Legion Post #447 in Plymouth, and B.P.O.E. He was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Alice F. Lay Martin; three daughters and a son-in-law, Missy and Sean Stoke of Columbus, Robin Martin of Columbus, and Michelle Martin of Galion; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Lisa Johnson of Lexington, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Nick, Laken, Sheldon and two grandsons; three brothers, Charles Ray Martin of Kentucky, Paul Martin of Shelby and Wade Martin of Kentucky; three sisters, Joyce Ratliff of Kentucky, Doris Welch of Maryland and Gwen Barnette of Florida; two stepsons and their families, Bill and Kathy Frey, and Ed Frey; one stepdaughter and her family, Kim and Mike McBride; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Judy Johnson; second wife, Michelle Martin; and infant daughter, Theresa Lynn.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Monday, June 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Additional calling hours will be held at Hall Funeral Home in Martin, Kentucky, Tuesday, June 17 from 5-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of graveside services at 12 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
