
Frank R. Wilhelm, age 87, of 1167 Sunset Blvd. Died Wednesday January 3, 2001 in Winchester Terrace Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was born April 4, 1913 in Banat, Romania Austria , to Peter and Pauline Annemarie Steigerwald Wilhelm, now both deceased. He lived in the City of Mansfield since 1950. Mr. Wilhelm graduated from the College of Engineering in Stuttgart, Germany. He was employed at Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Mansfield, R.H. Jordan Engineering Company and later Borg Warner Corporation until 1966. Afterwards, he started his own business as a Free Lance Designer & Consulting Engineer. He was involved in designing and building automatic production equipment. He was also instrumental in the design and construction of the first, pneumatically operated Ocean Wave Pool in the United States, in Decatur, Alabama. From the University of Wisconsin he received a diploma in Applied Engineering Sciences. Mr. Wilhelm was a member of the National and Ohio Society of Professional Engineers, the Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce and the AARP. For twenty years he and his family were members of the St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mansfield, Ohio. Of late, actively supporting Dr. Schuller's Global Ministry, the Crystal Cathedral in California.
He is survived by his wife, whom he married in 1942, Eva Mueller Wilhelm; three daughters: Ingrid Kowalski; Edith and her husband Jean Helias all of North Brunswick, New Jersey; and Eleanor Seiler of Adrian, Michigan; one son: Roland Kurt Wilhelm of Jeffersonville, Vermont; five grandchildren, John and Matthew Kowalski; Joseph Helias; and Bill and John Seiler; one sister and brother-in-law, Magdalena and Peter Quiring of Kitchener, Ontario Canada; one brother-in-law, Andreas Mueller of Freiburg, Germany; one cousin and her husband, Betty and Robert Shriver of Akron, Ohio; two other cousins, Margaret Wilhelm, Attorney at Law, of Chicago, Illinois and writer, Professor Lotte Wilhelm; and also a number of nieces, grandnieces and grand nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Hans Wilhelm, who perished in the battle of Stalingrad in World War II; a brother-in-law, Jakob Mueller; and two sisters-in-law, Elisabeth Mueller and Kati Mueller both of Germany.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to funeral services which will be held on Friday January 5, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Dr. Wray C. Smith. The interment of ashes and private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to charities of the donor's choice.
