

Fred J. Kerr, 87, of Ashland died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Brethren Care. Born April 5, 1924 in Ashland County, he was the son of Frederick and Gladys (Harris) Kerr. Fred was a member of the Church of Christ where he served as a past elder. A World War II Army Veteran, he then farmed alongside his wife, Emily for 18 years from 1948-1966. Fred also spent 28 years at Ohio Brass.
He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca (Kent) Prather of Arlington, IN; sons, John (Jan) Kerr of Punxsutawney, PA, Dan (Phyllis) Kerr of Polk, Gary (Diane) Kerr of Grove City, Jeff (Pam) Kerr of Copley, and Jim (Belinda) Kerr of Laurelville; daughter, Rebecca (Kent) Prather of Arlington, IN; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Phillip (Shirley) Kerr of Polk, Chuck (Midge) Kerr of Oregan, and Dave (Dee) Kerr of Florida; and sister, Nancy Copenhaver of Nebraska. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Elizabeth (Hill) Kerr; grandchildren, Erin Prather and Stevie Kerr; brothers, Rodger, Richard, and James Kerr; and sisters, Elizabeth Prout and Ann Dismukes.
Friends may call Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave., Ashland. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Jeff Slater and assisted by Minister John Kerr. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside services conducted by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Nankin Cemetery.
