Freda Howell

Freda M. Howell, 73, of Mansfield, died Monday, December 17, 2007 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born April 26, 1934 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Clifford and Hennerita Price Wilson. She received her undergraduate degree from Saint Mary-Of-The-Woods College and Master's degree from Walsh University. Freda established the Social Work Department at Mansfield General Hospital and had also worked at Richland Hospital as a social worker and counselor. Freda retired from The Center for Individual and Family Services. She attended Crossroads Community Church and had previously been an officer with the Salvation Army. Having a close relationship to God, she enjoyed reading her Bible and helping others. She especially enjoyed camping and spending time with her friends at Charles Mill Lake.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Carol Cole of Mansfield; brother, Richard Janie Wilson of Mansfield; sister, Lillian Boring of Lake Trobe, PA; three nephews, Rick Mickey Wilson of SC, Jeff Melissa Wilson of Columbus, OH and Bart Nicki Brooks of Mansfield; nieces, Robin Wilson of CA; and special pet, Kaylee. Her parents, two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 20 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with Dr. Paul Tracy officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
