She was born on November 24, 1935, in Martin County, Kentucky to Bradley and Mary (Crisp) DeLong. Irene had a deep love for gardening and could often be found tending to her flowers and vegetables until just recently. She found great joy in caring for her plants and watching them grow.
Irene also loved animals, especially her beloved cat, Bubbles, who was a constant companion. She was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and rarely missed a game.
She is survived by her daughter, Coleen Mast of Lexington; her grandchildren, Erin Moser of Bay Village, OH, Adam (Lauren) Mast of Westlake, OH and Nathan (Heather) Mast of Grove City, OH; her great-grandchildren, Carmen, Patrick, and Phillip Moser, Peyton, Silas, Aly, and Ellamae Mast; her sister, Juanita Russell of Mansfield; and many special loving nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James A. Hunter; and her siblings, Holly DeLong, Elmer DeLong, Ella Mae McKitrick, and Oliver DeLong.
In keeping with Irene’s wishes, there will be no services observed. Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield is honored to serve the Hunter family.
