Gary Richard Huss

Gary Richard Huss, age 80, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born April 18, 1946, in Mansfield, to Ursa and Thelma (Richards) Huss.

He was a hardworking and meticulous man who took great pride in everything he did. He dedicated 34 years to Tappan Company before becoming Operations Manager for Madison Local School District, where he later retired. He also served Madison Schools as a school bus driver for 17 years.

Above all, he cherished his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He rarely missed the opportunity to attend his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a devoted fan of Ohio State football. He was an avid outdoorsman and in his free time, he enjoyed collecting die-cast cars and pocketknives, hobbies that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and tradition.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 63 years who he married May 4, 1963, Trudy (Thomas) Huss; children, Deb (Sam) Scheurer, Lori (Gary) Cerosky, and Rob (Brandy) Huss; grandchildren, Stevie Volkmer, Logan Scheurer, Taryn Ohl, Devin (Kara) Ohl, Dylan (Miranda) Ohl, Kyler Huss, Dane (Ellie) Huss, Kale Huss, Demi (Jonah) Burrell, Ryan (Brooklyn) Wirick, Alec (Hannah) Wirick, and Eric (Jillian) Wirick; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; sister, Lana (Dan) Kriegel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Mason Volkmer.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, the funeral will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will be held at Mansfield Cemetery.
