

Gene H. Wagner, 71, of Lucas, died January 31, 2015. Born January 14, 1944 in Denver, CO, he was the son of Robert and Jean (Rickard) Wagner. Gene finished school through the military, and served one year as military police in Korea and when he returned stateside, served in engineering and communication. In 1966, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Critchfield. Gene worked for Ohio Edison as a lineman and troubleman until his retirement in 2007.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Gene was VERY ornery, but always quick to tell you he was an angel. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, watching the Sci-Fi channel, and playing the lottery, especially scratch off tickets. Gene was a part of a breakfast club, where he wasn't afraid to pick on anyone. A jack of all trades, he enjoyed wood working and was very creative and talented.
Surviving are his loving wife, Dorothy Wagner; children, Kristina (Raymond) Eaton, Kimberly (Rock) Shrauger, and Kelly Wagner; grandchildren, Michaela, Kortney, Jessica, Rhyanna, Hayley, Connor, Danielle, and Sarah; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Jo) Wagner; brother-in-law and best friend, John (Patty) Critchfield; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edward Critchfield, Carol Wrin, and Lori Barrick; and numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m., conducted by Father Gregory Hite. Burial will take place at a later date in Greenlawn Union Cemetery.
