

George R. Cochran, Sr., 75, of Mansfield, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at his home. Born May 28, 1929, in Marietta, Ohio, he was the son of Elmer and Irene Morris Cochran. On February 19, 1953, he married Manuela Precido Carpio, who survives him. George was a graduate of St. Peter's High School. He was a proud member of the U.S. Army, where he served for 4 years active duty and another 27 years in the Army Reserves. He was an expert marksman and earned the rank of Master Sergeant. Mr. Cochran was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and often served Communion to the infirmed in the hospital or their homes. He was an usher at Mansfield St. Peter's Catholic Church where he and his wife, Nellie, recently renewed their wedding vows for their 52nd anniversary. Mr. Cochran was retired from GM, where he worked with his best friend, Cirillo Gonzales.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Linda S. Feeman-Shaffer of Bellville; son, George R. Cochran, Jr. of Westminster, MD; grandchildren, Eric Becky Feeman of Bellville, Joel Rachael Feeman of Ft. Wayne, IN, Andrew Chasity Feeman of Bellville, Courtney Justine Dill of Findlay, Alan Jamie Feeman of Toledo, Kyle Melissa Feeman of Butler, Lindsey Feeman of Bellville, and Rachael Jones-Cochran; beloved sisters, Clara Powell, Mary Yeager and JoAnn Esterline; his cousin, Rudy Flores; eleven great-grandchildren, Torri, Mason, Braeden, Jale, Malachi, Evangeline, Matthias, Matthew, Peanut, Kyla, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his close brothers, Bill and Charles Cochran.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Wednesday, March 23 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services officiated by Father Herb Weber, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside services conducted by Richland County Joint Veteran's Council will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society.
