George C. Franklin, 89, of Mansfield, died Sunday, April 26, 2015 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield. Born May 7 in Mansfield, he was the son of George and Beatrice (Epley) Franklin. A graduate of Madison High School, George enlisted with the U.S. Navy in 1943 and was stationed in Okinawa during World War II. He received many awards throughout his time in the service before being honorably discharged in 1946. George retired from The Tappan Company in May of 1987 where he worked as tool and dye maker and was also a member of the Tappan Quarter Century Club.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Emma (Louvis) Franklin; daughter, Georgine (Ray) Crisp; sister, Ruth Novak; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Marguerite Howman, Juanita Hill, and Lyman Franklin.
Private burial will be held at a later date in Mansfield Cemetery. Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family of George C. Franklin.
