George Griffith

George M. Griffith, 84, of Land O' Lakes, died Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at Gulfside Regional Hospice in Dade City. He was born in Mifflin, OH and resided in Mansfield until 1988 when he moved to Land O' Lakes, Florida. After graduating from Madison High School, he went to work for Westinghouse. He served in the U.S. Navy and returned to Westinghouse until he became employed by the state of Ohio. After serving for 17 years as a Game Protector for the Ohio Division of Wildlife he entered the world of politics and served three terms as Richland County Treasurer. He was a member of American Veterans, American Legion and a member of Venus Lodge. He was also a member of Myrtle Lake Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa; sons, John Folk of Ashland, Keith Mitchell of Mansfield, Bernie Wolf of Orlando, FL; daughters, Connie Pitts of Brandon, FL, Winnie Chastain of Land O' Lakes, FL; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Sunday, August 6 from 2-5 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Gulfside Regional Hospice, 14235 Edwinola Way, Dade City, FL 33523.
