

George D. Rogers, 81, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at MedCentral Mansfield. Born July 25, 1930 in Mansfield, he was the son of George Lawrence and Flossie Belle (Bisel) Rogers. George was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and had worked for GL Rogers, Tappan Co., and Walmart. He had also been a Boy Scout Leader for many years. George enjoyed planting many flowers around his home causing people to call his residence the “Second Kingwood Center”. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy (Gutchall) Rogers; children, Brian (Val) Rogers, Beth (Harry) Armstrong, and Greg (Sally) Rogers, all of Mansfield, and Julie (Jeff) Milligan of Columbus; grandchildren, Christopher Rogers, Megan (Eric) Reining, Andrew Armstrong, and Katie and Maggie Milligan; great grandchildren, Piper Reining, and Ava and Isabel Armstrong; sister, Gwen Swank of Maine; brother-in-law, George Gutchall; and sister-in-law, Beverly Eilenfeld. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters.
Friends may call Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Christopher Whitehead. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Heart Association or the First Christian Church Memorial Fund.
