George Stanford 'Stan' Schneider, 73, of Mansfield, died Sunday morning, July 8, 2007. Born in Mansfield on January 13, 1934, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Caryl Stanford Schneider. Mr. Schneider graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1952. He was a Korean War veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy. Stan had been employed at Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company until 1968, and retired young after years of self-employment. He relished in hard work and enjoyed various activities including golf.
Mr. Schneider is survived by a daughter, Vicki Martin of Mansfield; two sons, Scott Schneider of Mansfield and Stan Schneider of Chelsea, MA; a granddaughter, Brooke Martin Proctor of Fleming Island, FL; and special friend, Judy Burdock Schneider of Mansfield. Mr. Schneider was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Schneider and his son-in-law, Steve L. Martin.
A private graveside service will be held in Mansfield Cemetery with full military honors. As Mr. Schneider often credited the support he received from the Friendly House programs to the enjoyment of his youth and later successes, he requested, in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions may be made to Friendly House, 380 N. Mulberry St., Mansfield, OH 44902.
As a youth, Mr. Schneider wrote a poem entitled 'The Unforeseen'.
What lies beyond the sights unseen
The days that are soon to come,
Who knows what is going to happen
As we wait for the evening sun'
While we linger by the wayside
We try to visualize
Where will we be tomorrow
In which path our destiny lies'
What really goes on in a man's mind
When deep in meditation
Why does he try to grab
Hold of his intended destination'
The path of life is hidden by a fog
What lies ahead of us is very dim
But life will not be so depressing
If only we have faith in Him!
