
George Alfred Snyder, age 84, of Mansfield, died Friday evening October 22, 2010, at Mansfield MedCentral Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Snyder was born April 29, 1926 in Mansfield, Ohio to Harold & Martha Smith Snyder. He retired from Ohio Brass Company. Mr. Snyder was a member of Mansfield Baptist Temple. He was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed making marvelous lures, flea markets, garage sales, his rock garden, and amish country travels. Mr. Snyder was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He enjoyed family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Snyder was a devoted husband to his wife, Ruth who were sweethearts for 60 years and lovingly cared for her during the last two years of her illness.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Jim Wynn of Mansfield and Pamela Steve Hertzler of West Virginia; grandchildren, Miranda Jason Miller and Justin Hertzler; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl Regina Snyder of Defiance, Ohio; a sister, Marilyn Payne of Lucas, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Ruth in 2007; a son, Bruce Snyder; a brother, Wallace; a sister, Esther Schoenfelt and an infant brother, Wendell.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Monday October 25, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 26, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Dr. Dale V. Adkins. Military graveside services will follow in Shauck Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Temple Christian School.
