
George E. Williams, 59, of Shelby, died unexpectedly Thursday, September 14, 2006 at MedCentral Shelby Hospital. Born July 9, 1947 in Columbus, he was the son of Richard and Mabel Coble Williams and lived most of his life in the Mansfield area. He served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Williams retired from Sprint. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. George loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved golf, fishing, and was an avid outdoorsman. Spending time and cooking for his family and friends was his greatest joy. He was a very caring and giving person.
He is survived by three daughters, Valerie Hackworth of Florida, Michelle Worthington of Shelby, and Breann Williams-DeRosa of Naples, Italy; two sons, George Williams of San Diego, California, and Jerrod Williams of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Brandan, Andrien, Sherie, Anthony, Arielle, Teresa, and Keylee; two brothers, Richard Bud Williams of Mansfield, and Ronald Williams of Monroe, Michigan; and three sisters, Darlene Conner of Columbus, Gloria Zimmerman of Monroe, Michigan, and Nona Kaufman of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Flora Zehender.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
