
Gerald E. "Slim" Hinton, 88, of Mansfield, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at MedCentral Hospital. Born February 28, 1921 in Grayson, KY, he was the son of Ezekial and Toni Reeder Hinton. He was a long time member of Hanna Rd. Church of God, where he served as Deacon and song leader for many years. He was a dedicated worker at Dominion Electric for 25 years and at Crane Plumbing until retirement. He loved music, cooking for his family gatherings, traveling, and attending church. He always had special tenderness for children. The family would like to send a special thanks to Crystal Care of Mansfield employees, MedCentral Hospital staff, and MedCentral Hospice staff for tender care of their loved one.
He is survived by his children, Larry Janice Hinton, Phyllis Dave Montgomery, Freda Tony Lieb, Steven Catherine Hinton, and John Patricia Hinton, all of Mansfield; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister-in-law, Lucy Hinton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Nora Edith Frazier Hinton on August 11, 1984, and they were the perfect example of a husband and wife; 13 brothers and sisters, and one granddaughter, Tresa Hinton.
Friends may call Sunday, May 3, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 4, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Floyd Scaggs, Pastor Michael Rogers, and Pastor Jay Stevens. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice.
