Geraldine Ann Murphy, 70, of Ashland, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Born April 23, 1938, in Lorain County, Ohio, she was the daughter of Louis and Anna Weigl Matesick. A homemaker, Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, being an active preacher of good news. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and her flower gardens. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, and all who knew her were keenly aware of the depth of her caring for her family.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Vincent Wright of Ashland; and two grandchildren, Micah and Chloe Wright. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joseph Morrel Murphy; her eldest daughter, Regina Murphy; and her parents.
Memorial funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1404 Jacobson Avenue, Ashland, OH 44805, conducted by her uncle, Russell Stipanovich. The Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Mrs. Murphy.
