Gilbert Rush

Gilbert M. Rush, 73, of Mansfield, died early Wednesday morning, March 24, 2010 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born May 1, 1936, he was the son of Reece and Belle Rush. Gilbert was formerly employed in plumbing and heating for 14 years and after retirement he managed condos and was an all-around handyman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a 32nd Degree Mason serving as Grand Staff Officer in the state of New York. A very giving, loving man, Gilbert treasured the time spent with his family. He enjoyed fishing and racing. Gilbert was very involved in the activities of his church, Grace Bible in Lucas.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jacqueline Boggs Rush; children, Janet McGuire, Velda "Val" Rush, Jonnie Iva Rush, Sr., Stephen and Jan Edward Henry; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Flora Jean Rose; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, David Henry, Thomas Rush, Sr., Gilbert "Marty" Rush, Jr.; and daughter, Michell Ann Rush.

Memorial services conducted by Pastor Marc Patterson will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Grace Bible Church, 67 W. Main Street, Lucas, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Awana Club in care of Grace Bible Church. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Mr. Rush.
